In the December of 1891, Dr. James Naismith was trying to entertain his gym class. After awhile, Naismith wrote some basic rules and nailed peach baseketball onto an elevated track. A long time ago, basketball was orginally played with a soccer ball. But in 1950, soccer balls for the sport of basketball was no longer used. The first basketball that was created was created by Tony Hinkle. This basketball was described as a dark type of brown. A couple years after Hinkle invented the dark brown basketball, he thought that there should be a basketball that is more visible to the players and spectators. The ball was described to be an orange ball. This orange ball is the exact same ball that we now use today. Today, not dribbling the ball while you move around is a walk. Back in the days when it first came out, dribbling was not part of the rules that Naismith made. The only type of dribbling the players used were to bounce pass the balls to teammates. Dribbling was not part of the game unitll the late 1950's. The first orginal game of basketball was played at the YMCA in Albany, New York on January 20, 1892. The game orginally consisted of nine players on the court and one time. By the time 1897-1898 basketball was put together with a team of five people.
